Patrick G. Berry, Partner, CPA


Pat started his career with the predecessor of KPMG, (Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co) upon graduation from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting. While at KPMG he was promoted to a position of final reviewer of all financial statements prepared by the Albuquerque, New Mexico office. It was in New Mexico that he started doing accounting work on oil and gas companies, including Robert O. Anderson, founder of ARCO, oil interests, who at one time was the largest landowner in America, other New Mexico oil and gas operators and the Navajo Tribe. 

Upon moving back to Texas, Pat became a Senior Partner in Arthur White & Co in charge of auditing, and continued with Berry Smith Duke & Co, as the Managing Partner, and Partner-in-Charge of auditing, growing the firm revenues by tenfold during the thirteen years of his tenure.  He continued working on oil and gas clients during the following years and started Berry & Moro, CPAs in 2013, concentrating the majority of the firm’s practice in the oil and gas accounting and consulting field in which he continues today. 

Pat is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and is on the Tax Committee of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. Pat is a long-time member of the Council of Petroleum Accountants Society (COPAS) and has developed and conducted oil and gas continuing professional development seminars for CPAs through his own continuing education company, CPE Online. Pat’s primary experience and background over the last five decades has been in the supervision and compliance work area where he filed over 15,000 federal and state tax returns and government compliance forms and documents on time. In summary, as a third-generation oil guy, Pat has seen it all. He has over 40 years of Public Accounting experience, over 30 years as a partner, primarily concentrating in the oil and gas business. Pat has helped both domestic and international oil operators and service providers with cost effective solutions to their accounting and compliance needs. 

Pat’s extensive and diversified background and experience in the oil and gas world is well-rounded, and includes: ownership of drilling rigs, ownership of oil and gas working interests, and ownership of oil and gas operating companies; CFO and co-founder of operating companies; CFO and stockholder of Salt Water Disposal companies for an IPO on the London Aims exchange; Tax Partner-in-Charge of other Aims Exchange oil and gas tax clients, one of which was a foreign owned company with 27 USA domestic subsidiaries; organizer, director and financial manager of several private placement drilling funds; developer of bi-lingual international oil and gas, tax and accounting systems; and author of white papers on evaluation of drilling prospects, and investment guidelines for individual investors. On a continuing basis, Pat helps oil and gas clients with marketing ideas, investor fundraising issues, and investor tax and accounting questions. Pat has extensive experience in providing oil and gas operators with advice regarding investor economic concerns in rapidly changing oil and gas markets. 

Pat has testified several times in court as an Expert Witness on financial matters but has personally never been a defendant nor a plaintiff in any lawsuit. As co-founder and CFO of American Operating Company Pat is responsible for accurate reporting with the SEC, IRS, BLM, RRC and numerous other agencies. Currently, as of August 2021, Pat is helping launch an oil and gas mineral SPAC (Special Purpose Acquisition Corporation), and other SPACs in the FinTech, International Banking, and Agricultural Tech businesses.  

Personally, Pat is a father of three daughters, one of whom works for his CPA firm, Berry & Moro. He is also an active worker in non-profit organizations and the Founder of a new non-profit mental health organization.  Pat is a multi-marathon runner with excellent health, and continues his life-long dedication to a healthy lifestyle 



Fabian Moro, Partner, CPA, MBA, APA 

  

Fabian is‏ a well-respected bilingual CPA, who owned and operated his own practice for seven years before partnering with Pat Berry to form Berry & Moro CPAs in 2013. Fabian’s primary emphasis is oil and gas clients. He earned the highly prestigious Accredited Petroleum Accountant Certification from COPAS, focusing on small to mid-sized businesses. He has significant experience with tax planning for both high net worth individuals and businesses. Fabian, is a CPA licensed in both Texas and Argentina, where he worked in Argentina’s biggest utility company as a Senior Accountant and as Financial Analyst. Fabian has an MBA in International Finance from the University of Dallas.



Adriana Coss, Sr. Accountant, MBA


Adriana is a well-rounded bilingual accountant who has worked in public accounting for nine years. She obtained her Bachelor’s in Accounting from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2017 and her MBA from the same institution in 2019. Adriana is currently working towards obtaining her CPA certification with the state of Texas. She has over 15 years of experience in accounting and is now primarily focusing her professional skills on maintaining clients' books, preparing financial statements, and planning for taxes for small to mid-sized businesses. Adriana has significant experience in oil and gas accounting, such as DD&A (Depreciation, Depletion & Amortization), as well as extensive experience in income tax return preparation for businesses and individuals. 



Tommi Fielden, Sr. Accountant


Tommi Fielden is a degreed accountant with over 30 years of experience working in the oil and gas industry. Tommi's concentration in the area of joint interest billing and revenue in the financial sector of large oil and gas companies, including ExxonMobil and Jerry Jones of the Dallas Cowboys oil and gas division, to small to medium companies that need someone who knows the inside and outs of the entire process of oil and gas accounting. 

Tommi is a powerful force in the workforce and uses her positive attitude and tireless energy to encourage others to work hard and succeed. Her professional skills with such systems as WolfePak, AS400, Ogsys, SAP, Excalibur, QuickBooks is invaluable. Tommi also enjoys helping others; whether it be in the office with a co-worker, with an investor, or a mineral royalty owner, she can make someone feel as if she has nothing else to do but help them to understand or learn whatever is necessary or needed. When Tommi needs to de-stress, she enjoys walks in nature with her dog daily. 



Maricela Garcia, Associate 


Maricela is bilingual and has been with Berry and Moro CPAs since 2016. During this time, she has grown from her position as receptionist to administrative accounting assistant. She attributes her growth within the company to the supportive environment of the CPAs and staff, and she continues to gain knowledge in the field of accounting. She is currently a student at Brookhaven Community College pursuing an Associates degree in Accounting.



Olga Estrada, Associate


Olga is our part-time bilingual office assistant and bookkeeper. Olga is a native of Dallas and has worked in the nonprofit community in Dallas as the Horticulture Coordinator for 13 years at the Dallas Arboretum. She received a BBA in Accounting from the University of North Texas at Dallas, where she graduated magna cum laude. Olga developed a strong sense of devotion for accounting while being praised by the accounting department and auditors at the Dallas Arboretum. 



Sara Berry, Associate


Sara received her Bachelor’s in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin. She spent 15 years in the Information Technology field as a software developer, automation engineer, and software tester. Sara has worked in various industries including retail electric, telecom, blood device manufacturing and pharmaceutical distribution. Sara performs bookkeeping and is QuickBooks Desktop Certified.
